First up is Lichen for colour inspiration, often found on trees and rocks.
Long term effects of pollution, destruction of habitats and biodiversity has led to the global pandemic . With Covid 19 being identified as a result of transmission from animals on whose habitat has been interfered and encroached on. Yet through turmoil and disaster we look to nature as a grounding force for optimism and comfort.
Now more than ever designers and innovators are looking to nature for solutions and inspiration as we shift more towards slower-cycle , trans-seasonal and sustainable approach to trends. Although Lichen is common it's often not found in urban/city areas due to pollution - making it an even more poignant point of inspiration for sustainable design.
The Colour Palette
Lichen inspired palette in practice
Pairing warm, natural neutrals with yellowed greens and almost luminous ochre found in woodlands and on coastal rocks. Brings a unity into what we wear and how we dress our homes with the natural surroundings - those of which deserve our respect and attention.
